Um,how about something like he got really depressed and started taking drugs and things got really bad for him and Clover (and describe all the bad things they went thru) then when the baby is born,it makes him see that there are important things in life and that he loves her and the baby so he quits the drugs and gets a really good job and they build a nice house and rub it in his parents' faces cuz they thought he was a loser who would never amount to anything
