If I activate a used sprint phone with a different number will it replace mine?!?

I have a used sprint phone that I bought from ebay and it has a different number. I want to activate it cause mine is really crappy but will it then replace my phone number I have now!? I'm getting a new phone in 3 months cause that's when my plan updates but for now I need something. Thanks!
