How long can I expect to wait for an affordable electric car?

I want a car that's 100% electric, that can drive over 120-130 (Highway capable). I'm a 19 year old student, I don't want to wait too long before I get my own car either. For me affordable means 20 000, if that's only a possibility in like 2020 then I might get a crappy car until then.
