Full bike license ???????????? ????

i ride a 125 scooter atm and i want to get a full speed bike. however i understand i need to have bike lessons jsut like with a car u have driveing lessons. my question is how does it work? i want to get a 650 cc bike but im not aloud to ride one till i have my license. so does the person who does the driving lessons provide a bike or do i have to go out and buy a crappy bike just to do my lessons? ive never used gears before so i cant use the scooter. any one have some advice?????
